  1. Dr. Pradeep,

    I hold
HDFC Regalia – my primary card – for which the bank has offered an upgrade to Diners Black.
Amex Membership Rewards – for wallet recharge
Amex SmartEarn (collegue card with Amex MR) – use in dmart or more stores
Citi Shoppers Stop card – use only in ShoppersStop but my first card so the oldest relationship
SBI FBB Styleup – use only in Bigbazaar or FBB
RBL Bajaj Finserv Platinum – downgraded from World Prime – never used
Kotak League Platinum – never used
    Axis Flipkart – hardly used
ICICI Coral HP Amex Card – use it for fuel spends on HP pumps – approx 5k/month
Standard Chartard Platinum Rewards – use mainly for fuel spends on non HP pumps
Indusind Aura Edge Platinum – used only once

my main spends are groceries, fuel and online – groceries, amazon/flipkart, medicines

Can you suggest me which cards to keep and which not?

Additionally, I have two upgrade offers.
    1) HDFC Regalia to Diners Black
    2) Amex Platinum Travel – 3rd collegue card with the existing 2. If I take this card then other two will be lifetime free.

    • You should calculate the ROI of each card. Compare the annual saving from the card with its annual fee.

If you are not using a card but keep paying the annual fee then downgrade the card to a basic one (with zero annual fee)

      For upgrade,
1- Dinners black credit card offers better savings as compared to HDFC Regalia. But compare your annual savings with Dinners black annual fee

2 – Would you need to pay the Amex Platinum card annual fee?

      • Thanks Mr. Pradeep.

1- For Dinners Black, I have sufficient annual spends to get the annual fee waiver. Thats it. I dont fly much. Even if we plan a trip, that would be once or twice in a year. So as of now unlimited lounge access is of use to me. So, it it worth to upgrade?

2- As of now 2 Amex cards – I am sufficient to get the fee waiver. However, if I upgrade to Travel Platinum I will have to pay the annual fees.

I thought of closing 3 cards
        1) RBL Bajaj Finserv Platinum
        2) Kotak League Platinum
        3) Axis Flipkart

But closing 3 Card accounts will definitely reduce my credit line, which might impact my credit score. Is that rigth? If yes, then what could be the solution, because they are already the basic cards with minimum annual fee the bank can offer.

        • You should upgrade to Diners black as you can save an approx 3.33% on your spending.

As you upgrade to Diners black, you wouldn’t need to have an extra travel credit card (Amex Travel Platinum)

You can keep the basic credit cards for mentioned banks to get special bank discounts on online shopping or outlet shopping.

  2. dear mr pradeep
    i hold
    amex gold charge
    icici sapphiro
    citi rewards
    yes first exclusive
    stanchart manhatten

pl let me know which one to hold and what can be surrendered

    my primary spends
grocery – small stores sometimes departmental stores
online payments of bills – phone/insurance/maintainenance society/ gas etc
    amazon & flipkart
    petrol 5000 rs per month

i have applied for regalia HDFC too
please let me know which card i should apply for / retain/surrender and what should it be used for

    • Here are my suggestions
-Upgrade your Amex gold charge card to Amex membership credit card – Use the card for wallet upload and other online payments
-Use SC Manhattan credit card for grocery shopping
-Downgrade the ICIC Sapphiro credit card to a basic ICICI credit card
-Upgrade citi rewards credit card to Citi indiaOil credit card for fuel spends
-Downgrade to Yes first exclusive credit card
-Yes first exclusive & ICICI Sapphiro are premium credit cards for travel benefits like lounges. You haven’t mentioned such requirement. So advised to downgrade them.
-Downgrade a premium credit card if you are not getting the best out of it. It will help you to save the annual fee.
-Keep one credit card of each bank (basic would work) to grab time to time deals & sales.

  3. Pardeep ji,
You provide Amex credit card link. I’m apply through link approved my Amex Reward card

    Tell me the benefits.
I’m Also used HDFC regalia, Manhatan, and RBL platinum delight.

  4. Very good information. A suggestion, if possible standardize the information format and provide info like 1 pt is equivalent in Rs.

Could you also look at Axis Bank Reserve and Select Cards. I have one of them and feel are equivalent to some of these cards.
