SBI Prime Credit Card Review 2020 (Benefits, Lounges, Features)

SBI launched Prime Card one step below their Elite Card. But I feel that Prime card has more benefits than the SBI Elite Card.

I received my SBI Prime Card in November last year. I really liked the shiny and premium look of SBI Prime card.

Note – SBI has changed SBI Platinum credit card into SBI Prime credit card.

SBI has also provided a quite informational booklet including a rewards benefits catalog along with the card.

That’s an additional 1.4% bonus on top of regular rewards.

On your BIRTHDAY if you spend from this Card, you’ll get 20 Reward Points per Rs. 100/- spent.

In other words, you’ll receive a 5% Cashback as Reward Points on your birthday. This is not a major benefit but still, you can earn some reward points if you pay your Birthday Party expenses through this card.

SBI PRIME CARD Complementary Offers

Trident Package Membership

You get a complimentary Trident membership with this card if you stay in Trident hotels. It is of no use for me as I don’t stay in Trident hotels.

Club VISTARA Silver Membership

If you prefer Vistara Airlines then you can get 9 Vistara club points for every Rs. 100 spent on Vistara Airlines.

SBI Prime Credit Card Airport Lounge Access

One of the coolest benefits of credit cards is free-access to Airport Lounges.

“Airport Lounges are the Waiting Area on Airport where you can rest and have a meal, you can wait for your flight there. The environment is quite relaxing and the food is free. In different lounges, you get different experiences.”

You’ll get 4 complimentary visits per year on International Lounges through Priority Pass. Apply for Priority Pass once you received the SBI Prime Card.

You don’t need Priority Pass for Domestic Airport Lounges. Just show your credit card to get the access. Lounge Staff will swipe your card to check the eligibility.

You would get 8 complimentary visits per year in Domestic Lounges.

You have to check which card you have got approved. Visa Signature Card and Mastercard have different benefits.

Some More Benefits

This is a kind of free insurance that you get along with this card.

In this cover, if in any unfortunate situation cardholder dies in Air Accident, his/her Beneficiary can get up to 50 Lacs as insurance claim cover from SBI Credit Card.

    • You would be charged additional fees when paying electricity bills through credit card.

Make sure you check that before using credit card.

You can pick any premium credit card that offers extra benefits on hitting milestones… you would get a lot of perks.

  9. You forgot to mention the main benefit of applying for this card (which will also help you in reaching the milestone benefit of ₹50k for pizza hut voucher & ₹3lacs for waiver of annual fees). So just only paying ₹25k rent per month you could reach the milestone.

This benefit is ~5% cashback (with no upper limit) on payment of your house rent. Now who would have thought of getting ~5% back on their rental payment?

Apart from this you forgot to mention that on the Visa variant of this card you get 1+1 movie ticket (with free ticket price caped at ₹300) and upto ₹200 off on snacks (pepsi, popcorn etc.) Bookmyshow on weekends.

Also to elaborate, you get two voucher of ₹500 each of Pizza Hut (not one voucher of ₹1000) when you spend ₹50k in a quarter.

  10. i guess you missed that you can pay a part of outstanding amount of your credit card bill with the reward points accumulated which means it’s like real cash and one need not to spend that in juts shopping for something that is not needed.

      • As in your article you have taken 25 paise as the value of each reward point for calculating the cashback. This is true when you redeem the point against the outstanding against your credit card bill or buying vouchers like Lifestyle, Amazon, Flipkart etc. And as per my understanding 25 paise value per point is the best possible return.

So can you please provide some examples of voucher which would increase the return per point from 25 paise.

Please provide examples of voucher which according to you at least 50% of the cardholders would be happy to redeem their points. Also don’t provide examples like Lenskart, Cookwinks etc. as they already have provide ₹1,000 to 1,500 off on your purchases as promo codes.
